The UK Jackpot Cap
It can’t have escaped your attention that Wednesday night’s Lotto jackpot was huge. So huge in fact that the top prize had exceeded its £22 million cap in the previous draw, resulting in a ‘must-win’ situation for players of the UK game. With the massive prize klaxon sounding loud and clear, lottery lovers were quick to snap up their tickets in an effort to potentially secure a colossal sum of money.
No one was able to match all six main numbers, a scenario which, under the current rules of the game, resulted in the jackpot prize rolling down. This came as welcome news for the five ticket holders who each matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball, an outcome that is six times more likely than winning the jackpot. In sharing the game’s top prize, the winning ticket holders brought an end to a run of ten consecutive rollovers.
This is the first time that the jackpot has rolled down to the second prize tier since Saturday 24th May, when two ticket holders each collected over £12.7 million. The latest winners now have 180 days in which to claim their prize.
A Special Night for Lotto Players
The winning numbers in the draw were 11, 12, 15, 22, 27 and 44, with 7 appearing as the Bonus Ball. This result also spelled success for over 1.3 million other players, each of whom won rewards ranging from a free Lucky Dip ticket for matching two main numbers to £595 for correctly predicting five main numbers.
The celebrations continued long into the night as the Millionaire Maker draw produced its usual £1 million winner and 20 recipients of £20,000. To learn more about this popular supplementary draw, visit the Lotto Millionaire Raffle page.
