Staying in Syndicate Pays off for Irish Lotto Winners

Picture the scene; a number of your former co-workers have just scooped a huge lottery jackpot, but you were made redundant just a few months beforehand. This would be a nightmare situation for many, but this time, there was a happy ending for three Irish Lotto players from Waterford who were part of a jackpot-winning group this month.

The three extremely lucky players experienced a touch of good fortune after remaining in a syndicate with their former colleagues after taking redundancy, as they were part of a group that successfully matched all six main numbers to scoop an amazing prize worth over €2.5 million in the draw on Saturday 12th March. The party of twelve, whose ages range from 37 to 50, are all former or current employees of Bausch & Lomb, one of the world’s largest suppliers of eye care products, and have been playing the same numbers for an incredible 16 years.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror, John Walsh, one of the three players to have left the company, spoke of his reasons for remaining as part of the syndicate: “You can’t leave because you hear stories. I know one fellow who left a syndicate [at Bausch & Lomb], he retired, and about 6 months after he finished, they won.”

Playing as part of the ‘RPIII Heads’, the group won the jackpot playing with an €8 ticket and stand to receive €214,844 each, money that will be used to pay off mortgages, jet off on various holidays and pick up new cars.

This Wednesday's Irish Lotto jackpot is an estimated €3 million, and if you’d like to be in with a chance of winning this incredible prize, whether on your own or as part of a syndicate, tickets can be purchased online or from any authorised retailer across the country. Best of luck!
