The mother, originally from Cork, purchased her entry from the Spar/Esso Service Station in the town of Celbridge, Co Kildare, in the hope of turning her fortunes around. "I had only €90 in my bank account when I went to do my weekly grocery shopping on Saturday," the woman joyfully told National Lottery officials. "With Christmas just around the corner, I can give everybody the Christmas that they deserve and not have to worry about the money."
The woman, who works as a full-time carer, spoke of how she came to discover the wonderful news: "Before I started my shopping, I had my Lotto ticket checked at the desk and the girl behind the counter gave me a cheeky wink and told me to contact the National Lottery about my winning ticket." Claiming to be “absolutely flabbergasted” with her success, the winner, who has opted to remain anonymous, revealed just how much the win would mean for her loved ones and those she cares for. However, some of those closest to her may still be in the dark following the win: "I still haven’t got around to telling anybody yet except for one close friend.”
Tonight’s Irish Lotto jackpot is worth a sensational €7 million, a total that could help spread some cheer in the run up to Christmas time. So, if you would like to be in with a chance of winning this fantastic sum, tickets are available to buy online or from any authorised retailer across Ireland. Best of luck!
