Last week Maria claimed her share of the prize, which amounted to CAD$6,986,491, and told lottery officials that her lucky numbers are of sentimental value. The numbers, which are 7, 11, 12, 13, 35 and 41, represent the ages that her family members were when they immigrated to Canada decades ago as well as the date that they arrived in the country.
Using those same numbers, Maria has consistently purchased and checked her Lotto 6/49 tickets at the Real Canadian Superstore on McPhillips Street, Winnipeg. Maria was at the store purchasing her groceries when she checked her ticket from the draw on 4th June and found out that she had become CAD$6.9 million richer.
Unbelievably, Maria had dreamt about winning the lottery the night before she discovered her big win. However, reality turned out even better as Maria had only won a million dollars in her dream. Winnipeg’s newest multi-millionaire plans to fulfil the original dream and share her winnings with her family although she also plans to save some of her winnings for emergencies.
Maria wasn’t the only player to strike it lucky on 4th June as another Canadian ticket holder also matched the same six numbers drawn to scoop the other half of the CAD$13.9 million jackpot. Lottery officials have yet to hear from the lucky recipient and players have been advised to thoroughly check their Lotto 6/49 tickets from the draw to see if they are the other lucky winner.
