The couple, who bought their ticket from Eason Newsagents in the centre of Dublin, found themselves in possession of one of two winning tickets on the night that successfully matched five of the six lucky Irish Lotto numbers as well as the Bonus Ball. Their reward was a cheque for €113,661, a total that they claim is their biggest win to date. Quoted in the Irish Mirror, the husband of the couple revealed that he and his partner were “absolutely delighted” with this latest win and have enjoyed an increase in prize amounts each time they have won: "The Lotto prizes have got bigger in general over the years when you consider that the first time we matched 5 numbers we won a hundred pounds!”
Confident that they still have a little bit of luck left in the tank, the pair remain optimistic that a jackpot win is achievable: "We are getting closer and closer to the jackpot,” the husband exclaimed. "Since the start of the Lotto, we have matched five numbers nine times and we’re not giving up on the jackpot just yet.” The couple are now looking forward to their next trip to Irish Lotto headquarters: “We are certain that we will be back to the National Lottery offices in the next few months to claim an even bigger cheque.”
The couple insist that they will be taking some time to let this win sink in, but eventually plan to spend some of their winnings on helping out a number of causes at home and abroad: “Charity is something very dear to our heart and we have some local charities we would like to help while we also want to work with a children’s charity in Africa,” they said.
The couple aren’t the only Irish Lotto fans to have enjoyed success in recent draws. The draw on Wednesday 22nd June draw saw one lucky ticket holder claim a jackpot worth over €5.8 million and become the first midweek winner since the 28th of October 2015.
