Margaret matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball in the draw on Saturday 22nd April, having already enjoyed a couple of smaller wins of €45 and €20 in the last month. The retired mental health nurse has now received her cheque from National Lottery headquarters, describing it as a ‘lovely’ financial cushion.
She said: “There was definitely something in the air for me this month. I had a feeling that I was going to strike something big after my small wins." Margaret bought her lucky ticket from Flynn’s XL Store in Ardfinnan, which is owned by Martina Flynn, the cousin of her husband Martin.
Margaret checked the ticket quickly this time to find out that she had won, having forgotten a decade ago and left the playslip in her bag for three weeks before realising her good fortune. The win ten years ago came just weeks before her son Mark got married, but this time she has no specific plans for the windfall.
The Irish Lotto jackpot, meanwhile, has continued to grow since a prize of €12.8 million was given away on 1st March and is now worth an impressive €11 million. Anyone wanting to land the multimillion-Euro prize can pick their numbers online or visit an authorised retailer in Ireland.
