The cascade of cash continued on Friday when a couple from Dublin collected an Irish Lotto Plus 2 jackpot prize of €250,000 from National Lottery headquarters in the nation’s capital. The wife of the pair, who purchased the winning Quick Pick entry prior to the draw on Wednesday 8th February, stumbled across the ticket after deciding to have a spring clean of her handbag. After being told to contact lottery officials by a shop assistant, the couple were left “dumbfounded” when they were told that they had won the six-figure sum.
Later that evening, news emerged that a player from Limerick had won a €500,000 EuroMillions Plus prize. The player, who has not yet made contact with lottery officials, purchased their ticket from Gleeson’s Spar on Harry Street. The shop’s proprietor, Michael Gleeson, received a late- night call from National Lottery HQ confirming that the winning ticket had been sold on his premises. "We're absolutely buzzing,” he told reporters, before revealing: "We've now had two EuroMillions wins and a National Lottery win since we opened in 2004.”
The big wins just kept on coming, as an Ireland Only Raffle ticket holder from Leitrim became the first ever player to land a €1 million prize in the game’s history. The draw, which usually creates ten winners of €5,000 each, saw the codes entered into a special extra draw which guaranteed to produce a brand new millionaire. The lucky player, who matched the code I-BQH-97186, purchased their entry from the An Post in Newtowngore, Co Leitrim ahead of Friday’s draw.
If you would like to add your name to the growing list of lucky Irish lottery winners, tickets for tonight’s estimated €11.5 million jackpot draw are available to buy online or from any authorised retailer throughout Ireland. Best of luck!
