UK Lotto
The lucky UK ticket holder matched the winning numbers of 3, 11, 16, 36, 43 and 59 to bring an end to a run of three rollovers and become the fifth jackpot winner of 2018. The Bonus Ball was 49, and a total of 1.2 million prizes were given away in total.
The winner has not yet come forward, but they have 180 days from the date of the draw to do so and can then decide whether to go public or stay anonymous. The location of the store which sold the winning ticket, if it is not an online entry, will only be revealed if the prize goes unclaimed for a few weeks.
Irish Lotto
The Irish National Lottery takes a different approach and usually publishes the location of the lucky store immediately. It has already been announced that Bernard Lynch’s Centra in Crosshaven, Co Cork, sold Saturday's jackpot-winning ticket, sparking celebrations from the locals.
Store manager Conor Middleton said: “We were very busy here on Saturday, and there were lots of visitors in town, and lots of extra people playing the Lotto, so it really could have been anybody. We are hoping it’s a local but as long as it brings them happiness, then good luck to them.”
Irish Lotto winners have 90 days to come forward, and someone has already been in touch to kick off the claims process. An Irish National Lottery spokesperson said: “We can confirm that we have been contacted by the ticket holder and arrangements are being made for the claim to be made.”
Other Big Wins
The UK and Irish Lotto jackpots were not the only major prizes to be given away at the weekend. A Powerball player from Louisiana won $55.9 million on Saturday night, while a Norwegian woman has set her heart on a holiday to Thailand after winning €17.4 million (kr 167 million) on Eurojackpot.
Big Jackpots This Week
There are still a number of massive jackpots on offer around the world this week, most notably the top prize in Mega Millions, which has soared to a majestic $458 million. The top prize in SuperEnalotto is currently worth €119.4 million, EuroMillions is £40 million (€46 million), while Powerball’s minimum jackpot is still an impressive $40 million. Players can pick their favourite games and choose numbers online even if they are not in the country where the lottery is hosted.
