One share of the $22 million will be making its way to the Central Coast after a syndicate of 30 matched the lucky numbers of 1, 2, 13, 20, 39 and 44. The group, who decided to remain anonymous, purchased their tickets at Newspower in Lake Munmorah, as described by their leader: “We’ve played Lotto together for quite some time. We all throw in a few dollars and buy an entry together in the big draws,” he told lottery officials upon collecting the prize. “I didn’t even realise our ticket had won first division until one of the guys called me early on Sunday to say we had six winning numbers.”
The group, who range in age from 40 to 80, maintain that the prize money will make a big difference to each and every one of them in some way, but many of the party are not quite sure what to spend their money on at this early stage. The win also came as good news for David Goodwin, owner of the Newspower store from which the winning ticket was purchased: “This is my second division one win so far this year – my other outlet sold a $200,000 division one winning ticket in Lotto Strike in February,” Mr Goodwin told the Daily Telegraph. “It’s wonderful to hear that so many locals are celebrating. I’d like to congratulate them all on their big win.”
There were also wins for ticket holders in Kariong and two each in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia, while Victoria provided the remaining four victors. This latest plethora of winners has seen the number of Saturday Lotto jackpot winners shoot up, with an astonishing 58 players claiming the top prize in the last ten draws.
Australian Saturday Lotto fans will test their luck once again this coming Saturday when there will be a $4 million top prize up for grabs. To be in with a chance of winning this incredible prize, Saturday Lotto tickets are available to buy online or from any authorised retailer throughout Australia. Stay lucky!
